  1. Owl Post – Harry receives birthday cards and gifts from his pals, hears what Ron and Hermione did during the summer, and is reminded of his prior exploits and his summer vacations.
  2. Aunt Marge’s Big Mistake – When Harry’s aunt Marge comes to visit, she inflates him, and he immediately gathers his bags and leaves Privet Drive without being given permission to go to Hogsmeade.
  3. The Knight Bus – When the Knight Bus arrives to transport him to London, Harry attempts to determine what to do. While travelling, Harry learns about Sirius Black and is given a lodging in the Leaky Cauldron after being greeted by Cornelius Fudge in Diagon Alley.
  4. The Leaky Cauldron – Wherein Harry takes advantage of his newfound freedom, buys materials for school, and meets with Hermione and Ron. Crookshanks is purchased by Hermione when the cat adopts Ron’s Scabbers. Harry overhears Mr. and Mrs. Weasley discussing the danger Harry is in back at the Leaky Cauldron.
  5. The Dementor – In this scene, the students depart from the Leaky Cauldron for Hogwarts, board the train, talk about Hogsmeade, and Professor Remus Lupin, who is asleep, stops a conflict between Malfoy and the students. Dementors board the train, Harry collapses, McGonagall requests a conversation with Harry and Hermione, and Hagrid is appointed the new Care of Magical Creatures instructor.
  6. Talons and Tea Leaves – In the first week of the new school year, Hermione has a very full schedule and Professor Trelawney foretells Harry’s demise in Divination class. When Buckbeak is offended by Hagrid’s introduction of hippogriffs in his first lesson and scratches Malfoy, Harry, Ron, and Hermione seek to comfort Hagrid.
  7. The Boggart in the Wardrobe – Malfoy exploits his Potions class injury, Snape tells Ron and Harry to help him with his assignment, Black has been spotted close to the school, and Lupin holds his first DADA lesson on dealing with Boggarts.
  8. Flight of the Fat Lady – DADA class continues to be a favourite, Crookshanks pursues Scabbers, Ron and Hermione grow tense, Harry is refused permission to visit Hogsmeade, Lupin speaks to him about fear, Snape prepares a potion for Lupin, the Hallowe’en feast, and Black slashes the Fat Lady’s portrait during Quidditch practise.
  9. Grim Defeat – Students gather in the Great Hall for the night, Quidditch practice continues, Snape takes control of DADA when Lupine is sick, Peeves wakes Harry, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff play Quidditch in a storm, Harry sees Grimm and Dementor on the field and passes out, wakes up after losing match in the hospital.
  10. The Marauder’s Map – Lupine returns to the classroom and informs Harry about the dementors as Fred and George give Harry the Marauder’s map while Harry spends the weekend in the hospital. When Harry uses a covert route to join Ron and Hermione at Hogwarts, they overhear the teachers talking, and they discover that Black is thought to have betrayed Harry’s godparents and parents.
  11. The Firebolt – When Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit Hagrid, they find him upset about Buckbeak’s hearing before the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures, and they start looking for precedents to support Buckbeak’s cause. Almost everyone has left for vacation. Christmas arrives, Harry receives a Firebolt broom from an unidentified (Black) donor, Crookshanks rekindles Ron and Hermione’s feud, supper is shared with the professors, and McGonagall takes the Firebolt to check for curses.
  12. The Patronus – Harry and Ron are both upset with Hermione for telling McGonagall about the Firebolt, Oliver Wood makes an attempt to retrieve it, classes resume, Lupin teaches Harry Patronus to use against the Dementors, Harry repeatedly asks for his Firebolt and eventually receives it, and Harry reconciles with Hermione just as Ron discovers bloody traces of what he believes to be Scabbers.
  13. Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw – As Quidditch practice resumes, Gryffindor defeats Ravenclaw despite Slytherin’s attempts to interrupt the game by disguising himself as Dementors, increasing Ron and Hermione’s anger. While Hermione is in class, Gryffindor celebrates late into the night. Black enters the bedroom and appears to cut Ron’s bed curtains.
  14. Snape’s Grudge – Security is increased, Hagrid and Buckbeak are called to London, Ron and Harry decide to return to Hogsmeade despite Hermione’s pleas, Harry dons his invisibility cloak and after being exposed while playing a prank on Malfoy and his minions, rushes to school where he is confronted by Snape, interrogated and only saved by Lupine’s arrival.
  15. The Quidditch Final – Hermione slaps Malfoy, leaves Charms class and ends the Divination when Hagrid loses the case and Buckbeak receives the death penalty. As the Gryffindor-Slytherin match approaches, tensions mount. When it finally happens, it’s the hardest game Harry has ever played, but Gryffindor triumphs.
  16. Professor Trelawney’s Prediction – The one where OWL and WIZARD are coming and everyone is studying, exam week arrives, Buckbeak’s roll call is scheduled, Professor Trelawney unknowingly predicts the Dark Lord’s return, Harry, Ron and Hermione use the invisibility cloak to visit Hagrid, try to comfort him, Hermione finds Crust in a milk jug, the men come to execute Buckbeak, Harry, Ron and Hermione come out the back door under the cloak and Crust goes mad.
  17. Cat, Rat, and Dog – In this episode, Crookshanks chases Scabby, Ron is dragged into a tunnel under the whooping willow by a large black dog, and Harry, Ron and Hermione begin their journey back to the castle. Harry and Hermione follow the cat through the tunnel and emerge into the Shrieking Shack outside Hogsmeade after Crookshanks prevented the tree from attacking them. They run into Ron, Black’s hostage, who disarms them. When Harry threatens to kill Black, Crookshanks gets between them. Harry attacks Black and defeats him with the help of Ron and Hermione. When Lupine shows up there, he claims to be a werewolf and Black’s friend. Crust turns out to be Peter Minus, an Animagus.
  18. Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs – In which Lupine tells his story of becoming a werewolf and his days at school with James Potter, Black and Snape, the last of whom now appears.
  19. The Servant of Lord Voldemort – Snape threatens Lupine and Black with the Dementors; Harry, Ron, and Hermione use a spell to neutralise Snape; Lupine and Black reveal the truth regarding Harry’s parents’ passing; Scabby turns to Peter Minus; the truth about all of the players in the play is revealed; and Harry intervenes to stop Lupine and Black from killing Minus.
  20. The Dementors’ Kiss – When the moon comes out, Lupin turns into a werewolf, and Black changes into a dog to stop him from attacking Harry, Ron, and Hermione. When Pettigrew transforms into a rat and escapes, Black goes after him and is confronted by Dementors. Harry and Hermione then flee for help but are captured by Dementors as well.
  21. Hermione’s Secret – When Dumbledore arrives, he tells Hermione to use her Time-Turner (which she had been using to increase the number of classes she could attend) to go back in time and change the events to save Buckbeak and Black after Harry, who has just awoken in the hospital, desperately tries to tell Black’s side of the story, but is not believed until then. They first save Buckbeak, then Harry uses a Patronus Charm to protect himself from the Dementors, and last they ride Buckbeak to save Black, who has escaped on the hippogriff.
  22. Owl Post Again – When Snape shows there to accuse Harry and Hermione of being responsible for Black’s escape but is unable to back up his claims, the two return safely to the hospital wing. Resigning, Lupin gives Harry back the Marauder’s Map and his invisibility cloak. Term finishes, Harry, Ron, and Hermione take the Hogwarts Express back to their homes, Harry receives an owl letter from Black, and Ron receives a new owl.
