Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality
Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality is a Harry Potter fan fiction from the alternate universe written by Eliezer Yudkowsky, an artificial intelligence researcher and decision theorist at the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence. The story centers on a Harry Potter who enters Hogwarts after being raised by an Aunt Petunia who married a scientist, and therefore has two fundamental differences from his canonical counterpart: he had a happy childhood and is extremely rational. . The fanfiction is known to be perhaps the most reviewed Harry Potter fanfiction, with over 20,000 reviews on Fanfiction.net as of June 29, 2013.
It is 661,619 words long, the same as books 1 to 4 and 7 of the original series combined. For the most part, its reading level is slightly above that of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Stephen Fry – Jim Dale), although some sections on the philosophy of science and logic are more complex.
Although the author is clearly a fan of the Potter books, he makes several satirical comments on what he sees as weaknesses or inconsistencies in them. For instance: Moody had once seen an addicted dark wizard go to great lengths to persuade a victim to get their hands on a certain Portkey instead of simply having someone throw a trapped Knut at the target on his next visit to town; and after doing all that work, the addict had worked even harder to place a second Portus, on the same Portkey, which, with a second touch, had brought the victim back to safety. Even today, even taking the drug into account, Moody couldn’t imagine what might have gone through the man’s mind when he released the second Portus.
In this book, Harry and Hermione are in Ravenclaw, and Ron doesn’t show up much since he’s not Harry’s friend.

Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality Audiobook Summary
Harry Potter lived for 11 years with the Evans-Verres family: his aunt Petunia and her scientist husband, Professor Michael, who teaches at Oxford University, reasonably happy but with no knowledge of magic. One day he receives a letter addressed to Mr. H. Potter inviting him to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Skeptical. However, he accepts a visit from Vice Principal Minerva McGonagall for a show of magic. With magic now seemingly a proven reality, Harry now takes his place at Hogwarts, “armed with the ideals of the Enlightenment and the experimental spirit”. However, things are not as easy as they seem; while his rational knowledge helps Harry when dealing with most of the student body, a teacher far outclasses him in the realm of conspiracy: the one he knows as Professor Raptor, and turns out to be none other than a devilishly intelligent Lord Voldemort. who owns Raptor’s body. Sensing a mysterious relationship with Raptor, Harry develops a close friendship with him despite his friend Hermione’s legitimate protests that she appears to be bribing him.
