Harry Potter
This book is about a boy named Harry Potter, who is fourteen years old.
He is mistakenly put in the Triwizard Championship as the fourth champion, so he has to compete with older contestants.
He is a fearless and intelligent wizard, and at the end of this book, he fights Voldemort, his biggest enemy.
Hermione Granger
Ron and Harry are close with Hermione Granger.
Many people at Hogwarts think she is one of the most brilliant students there.
Harry asks her for help with the tasks he has to do for the Triwizard Cup. She also helps Harry and Ron with their homework all the time.
Rita Skeeter writes rumors about her in the newspaper, but Hermione eventually tells Rita Skeeter’s secret and gets the best of the deal.
Ron Weasley
Ron Weasley is Harry Potter’s best friend. He is known for being intelligent and funny.
When Harry is chosen for the Triwizard Tournament, he is angry with Harry because he thinks Harry put his name in the Goblet of Fire on purpose.
In the end, they work out their problems and become friends again.
Voldemort
Voldemort is the main bad guy in this book and the rest of the Harry Potter books.
He appears in Harry’s dream first, and then Peter Pettigrew brings him back to life. This is the first time he has a body since the day Harry’s parents died.
He calls his Death Eaters and insults them. Then he forces Harry to fight him in a duel.
Harry can get out of this situation in the end.
Albus Dumbledore
Most people think Albus Dumbledore is one of the best wizards ever. He is the Headmaster at Hogwarts School.
He is a judge for most of the tasks in the Triwizard Tournament. He is also one of the strongest supporters of Harry’s claim that Voldemort is back and that magical people must be ready for the chaos that will come with it.
He tries to talk Cornelius Fudge out of it, but Fudge doesn’t seem to believe anything he says.
Sirius Black
Sirius Black was a good friend of James and Lily Potter, and he is Harry’s godfather.
He gave Harry his new broomstick, the Firebolt, which Harry uses in the first task to defeat the Dragon.
Sirius also comes to Hogsmeade to talk to Harry and warn him about the dangers of the final task.
Rubeus Hagrid
Rubeus Hagrid is in charge of the games at Hogwarts and keeps the keys.
He also teaches a class called “The Care of Magical Creatures.”
In “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” he has a lot more jobs to do because of the Triwizard Tournament and the people from other countries who come to visit.
Peter Pettigrew
James Potter and Sirius Black used to be friends with Peter Pettigrew, but he turned on them.

Ludo Bagman is a happy person who walks pleasantly.
He oversees the Ministry of Magic’s Magical Games and Sports.
He used to play Quidditch for the England team and the Wimbourne Wasps.
He makes a bet with the Weasley brothers about who will win the Quidditch match, but when they do, he doesn’t pay them.
Rita Skeeter
Rita Skeeter is a reporter sent to the Triwizard Championship to write about it.
She likes to write about almost anyone and find random, nasty things to say about them.
She is also an unlicensed Animagus who takes the form of a beetle and buzzes around gathering information from people who don’t know what’s happening.
Bartemius Crouch
The head of the Department for International Magical Cooperation is Bartemius Crouch.
He is very strict and always follows the rules. He is in charge of making sure the Triwizard Championship runs smoothly.
At the end of the book, he is killed. It turns out that his son, Bartemius Crouch Jr., did it.
Bartemius Crouch Jr.
The son of Bartemius Crouch is named Bartemius Crouch Jr.
He was once considered a death eater and sent to Azkaban. Later, it was found out that he escaped from there.
With the help of Polyjuice Potion, he pretends to be Mad-Eye Moody and hides the real Mad-Eye Moody in a magical container.
Bartemius Crouch Jr. is the one who puts the Dark Mark in the sky at the Quidditch World Cup and plans Harry’s entry into the Triwizard Tournament up until Tom Riddle Sr. shows up at his grave.
Sibyll Trelawney
Divination is taught at Hogwarts by Sibyll Trelawney.
She is known for making some of the most exciting and vital predictions, like the one that caused Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort to become enemies.
She also tends to make vague predictions about almost everything; most are just scary and point to bad things happening.

Dumbledore’s memory from the Pensieve shows that Snape was a death eater in the past.
He is also close with other death eaters, like Karkaroff, who shows him the dark mark on his hand.
Igor Karkaroff
Igor Karkaroff is in charge of the school of magic at Durmstrang.
He is a guest at Hogwarts because the Triwizard Tournament has started.
Dumbledore’s memories at the Pensieve show that he used to be a death eater.
He is to blame for Barty Crouch Jr.’s arrest because he is the one who told the court that Barty Crouch Jr. is a death eater.
Madame Maxime
The person in charge of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic is Madame Maxime.
She is very tall, probably because she has a giant relative.
She seems nice to Hagrid, but she just wanted to know more about Fleur’s tasks for the Triwizard tournament so she could prepare for them.
Fleur Delacour
Fleur Delacour won the Triwizard Championship for Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.
She is in her last year of school at Beauxbatons and the only girl in the Triwizard Tournament.
Viktor Krum
The Bulgarian National Quidditch Team’s seeker is Viktor Krum.
He is also a student at the Durmstrang School of Magic and is chosen as the champion to represent Durmstrang in the Triwizard tournament.
He has already been seen playing against Ireland in the final of the Quidditch World Cup and catching the Snitch.
Cedric Diggory
Cedric Diggory is a Hogwarts student in his last year.
He is chosen as a champion from Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament.
He is also the captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team and plays as the seeker.
At the end of the book, when he and Harry get to the grave of Voldemort’s father by the Championship trophy, which was set up to be a portkey, Peter Pettigrew kills him.
Cho Chang
Cho Chang has been at Hogwarts for five years.
She is from the Ravenclaw house and the seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.
Harry thinks she’s very pretty and asks her to go to the Yule Ball with him. She’s already going with Cedric Diggory, so she politely declines.
Neville Longbottom
Neville Longbottom has been at Hogwarts for four years.
He is in the Gryffindor house, and he, Harry, and Ron share a room.
Neville is very interested in plants and does well in his Herbology class.
He is scared when Mad-Eye Moody talks about curses that can’t be broken.

They are hilarious, always pulling pranks on people or making clever jokes and ideas.
They need money to open a joke shop, so they bet with Ludo Bagman, who will win the Quidditch finals. Even though they win, they never get paid.
But Harry gives them both the thousand galleons he won in the Triwizard Cup so they can open the joke shop.

Bill is the oldest of the Weasley brothers and sisters.
He is an employee of Gringotts Bank.
He is a handsome man with a ponytail, and even though his mother, Molly Weasley, repeatedly asks him to cut it off, he refuses.
When the parents of the Triwizard Champions are supposed to visit, he and his mother go to see Harry.

Charlie is the second oldest of the Weasley brothers and sisters.
He has a job with Dragons in Romania.
He goes to Hogwarts with the four dragons who come there for the first task of the Triwizard Tournament.
Weasley Molly
Molly Weasley is Arthur Weasley’s wife and the mother of all the Weasley Siblings.
She is kind and caring, but she is also very strict when it comes to her kids.
She fights with the Weasley twins because of how crazy they are, but when they return from the Quidditch World Cup, where there is a big riot, she is pleased to see them again.
Arthur Weasley
Arthur Weasley is the dad of all the Weasley Siblings and Molly Weasley’s husband.
He works at the Ministry of Magic and oversees the office, ensuring people don’t misuse Muggle things.
When Mad-Eye Moody tells him someone broke into his house, he helps him.
Arthur also feels a strong sense of duty and helps out after the fight at the Quidditch World Cup, even though he was just there on vacation.
Tom Riddle Sr

She was missing for a long time before it was discovered that Voldemort had killed her after using her to learn about the Triwizard Cup.
Amos Diggory
Cedric Diggory’s father is Amos Diggory.
He knows Mr. Weasley because he works at the Ministry of Magic, the same place where Mr. Weasley.
